Aloha Deli | Big Island, Hawaii
On the Kona side of the island near the large resorts, it’s surprisingly hard to find a mom-and-pop spot for breakfast. That is, until you drive a little ways north on Highway 19 to Aloha Deli. And the best part? Breakfast served all day. I loved that they gave a fish of the day and a vegetarian patty option for their famous Loco Moco. The veggie patty is made in-house and is very flavorful, full of spices!
They also serve the standard breakfast fare. We had the cheese omelette, which comes with hash browns and toast. This was a little heavy on the cheese, but I’ve never heard anyone complain about too much cheese!
Next door, they have an adjacent shop with shaved ice and ice cream, if you are so inclined. The space is friendly and homey, definitely a low-key alternative to the high-end resorts. Added bonus? It’s also just a short drive from Hapuna Beach, voted in the world’s top travel magazines as the most beautiful beach in Hawaii.
