Zanaro’s | White Plains, NY

A few years ago, there was a restaurant in White Plains called Zanaro’s, an Italian restaurant that has since closed down.

The sad part about this is… I miss Zanaro’s every single damn day and I pray that somehow, a chef or reatauranteur will make a dish that is similar to my most favorite dish: the Chicken Valdostana.

Fried Calamari

Perfectly seasoned, perfectly crispy, the perfect starter.

Chicken Valdostana | Chicken Breast layered with sage, prosciutto di parma, fresh mozzarella, all in a sherry demi-glace over creamed spinach and Spaghetti noodles.

This is a picture of the last time I ever enjoyed this dish. Normally, the portion was larger and served on a black plate, piping hot and delicious. This time around, I had actually redeemed a cool gift card that allows us one free meal from Zanaro’s.

The dish was perfect every single time I had it. The Chicken Breast was perfectly cooked, moist and seasoned to perfection. They cooked this on the grill for nice texture on the outside. The prosciutto di parma added a wonderful texture and saltiness to the dish and fresh mozzarella, well… Who doesn’t love fresh mozzarella??? The sherry demi-glace was just the right amount of sweetness and all of this was served over creamed spinach and Spaghetti noodles.

Looking back, this was a unique combination of flavors. I’d never imagine seeing creamed spinach, pasta, and sherry Demi-glacé all on the same plate but damnit, it was freaking PERFECT.

I need to find a way to make this dish… So we can relive the wonderfulness that Zanaro’s had to offer.

One more thing that I’ll never forget is the fact that since this location used to be a bank, they converted the vault to be a dining space too! That was super cool and honestly, pretty romantic. They also had second floor seating that allowed us to look down into the main seating area and enjoy people watching.

Trust me, I’m seriously sad that Zanaro’s was closed down and replaced by a Buffalo Wild Wings. I mean… Really????

Come back, Zanaro’s. I’ll make sure to eat your Chicken Valdostana every single week to keep you afloat this time around.

Miss you.
